The Mountainside Medical Clinic is on the move at the end of April, and the next time you see it in Blairmore it will be better than it’s ever been.
The clinic is currently on 129th Street in Blairmore, part of the former Alberta Hotel building owned by Dr. Johann Maritz. Both Dr. Maritz and Dr. Botha operate out of the clinic.
“We’re moving into Coleman at the end of the month,” says Dr. Maritz. At the end of April they will pack up and move into the building beside Remedies Rx on Highway 3 in Coleman.
The change, however, is only temporary, and part of a plan to make the clinic bigger and better than ever.
Between May and the end of the year, the current Mountainside Medical building in Blairmore will be completely demolished and re-built from the ground up. “We’re not just going to fix it up,” says Dr. Maritz. “We’re going to put a whole new building here.”
That new medical office will be twice the size of the current one, with better access, wider hallways, more exam rooms, and most exciting of all, two brand new doctors for the Crowsnest Pass.
A husband and wife team, Dr. Jean du Rand and Dr. Mia Britz, will come to the Crowsnest Pass from South Africa sometime near the end of 2009. They will join the Mountainside Medical Clinic in their new, larger building in Blairmore when it opens.
Currently, Mountain-side Medical is a closed practice, meaning they cannot accept new patients. With the two new doctors and the expanded capacity, they will be once again free to do so.
