Business owners near the east Bellevue access breathed a sign of relief this June, as road construction work, which followed infrastructure work on water and sewer, was concluded after a long ten months. But patience has its virtues, as the finished work comes with a brand new sidewalk for this corner of the Pass.
Three businesses were primarily affected by the winter and spring delays that stretched the project over ten months -- Crockett's Trading Company, the Bellevue Superstop, and the Crowsnest Angler.
Though the road leading to these businesses was not officially closed, many residents kept their distance while the road work was being done.
Inez Feddema, owner of Crockett's Trading Company, kept her reduced winter hours longer into the spring than usual because of the work, but is very happy with the improvements that were done. "It's beautiful," she says. "Now I've got a sidewalk. Now that it's done, it's wonderful to have."
