Quote of the Week
“When we first decided to get married, we never planned on going for any marathon or endurance record. We just wanted to be together.”
- Larry Erickson
- on 65 years of marriage

The community is in for a hockey treat early this September, thanks to Crowsnest Pass Minor Hockey and the Western Hockey League.
Three of the top WHL teams –– the Lethbridge Hurricanes, the Calgary Hitmen, and the Kootenay Ice –– will arrive in the Pass for a three-game pre-season round robin tournament on September 4, 5, and 6. This showcase of talent is both a unique community entertainment event and a major fundraiser for our local minor hockey teams.
In fact, Crowsnest Pass Minor Hockey is going the extra mile to give you the maximum hockey experience. Throughout the weekend there will be silent auctions and raffles at the Sports Complex in Coleman, including numerous items of hockey memorabilia.
Items that will be available for fans to bid on or enter to win include signed jerseys, signed hockey sticks, a set of Calgary Flames tickets for a game over the Christmas break, and one special item signed by all six of the Sutter brothers.
Other hockey items, along with non-hockey items donated by local businesses, will be available.
When you’re not checking out these great items, you’ll be hip-deep in fast-paced WHL action at the Sports Complex.
The Hitmen play the Ice on Friday, September 4 at 7:00 p.m. On Saturday, September 5, the Hitmen battle the Hurricanes at 7:00 p.m. And on Sunday, September 6, the weekend wraps up with the Hurricanes versus the Ice at 4:00 p.m.
Tickets are still available for all of the games, and the proceeds go to support minor hockey in the Crowsnest Pass. Three-game ticket packs are available from Minor Hockey parents for $30, which is only $10 per game.
Individual tickets are available for $12 each at Crocket’s Trading Company, Water Magic, the Coleman Huskey, and the Pass Herald.
Tickets will also be available at the door before each game on the schedule.
Rick Yanco, Director of Communications for Minor Hockey, says that the event is a significant fundraiser for them, and that Minor Hockey hopes residents will come out to support their efforts in organizing this great event.
There’s no better way to combine a love of hockey, exciting WHL action, and support of local teams and young hockey players in the Crowsnest Pass
