There's a chill in the air as October descends around us -- leaves change colour, the nights grow cold, and snow stirs in the high mountains. As people begin to settle down for the coming winter, local businesses can take advantage of seasonal promotional opportunities upcoming in the Pass Herald, your locally owned newspaper.
This week the Pass Herald is putting together its annual tribute to volunteer firefighters in our community. Individuals or businesses can sponsor a local firefighter to show their appreciation for all the effort they all put in to keeping the Crowsnest Pass safe whenever a fire or other emergency situation arises.
Coming up at the end of October is, of course, Halloween. Businesses planning Halloween parties or other events, or who simply want to wish local children a happy night of candy-hunting, can take out an ad of any size, big or small, in the Pass Herald's special Halloween page, to be published near the end of the month.
With November comes Remembrance Day, when the community comes together to honour all those who have served in war on our nation's behalf. The Pass Herald's annual Remembrance Day section is an opportunity for individuals and businesses to show their support, sponsoring a poppy in the local paper.

As winter gets nearer, the Pass will begin a weekly Hometown Christmas series in the weeks leading up to Christmas. More details on this promotion will be available closer to the end of November.

And of course all businesses will want to take advantage of the Pass Herald's annual Christmas Greeter, a special issue packed full of Christmas sales, stories, recipes, and more, to help guide the local shopper in seeking their Christmas gifts.
