Quote of the Week
“I’m proud to be from Crowsnest Pass, and I want everyone else to be proud.”
- Joey Ambrosi
- on receiving the
Order of Crowsnest Pass

They don’t do it for the dinner, but a good meal and an evening of entertainment certainly don’t hurt.
The municipality held its annual Volunteer Recognition Night on Thursday, October 22, at the Crowsnest Centre. This yearly event celebrates volunteerism in our community by thanking many of the volunteers who give their time to different groups, causes, and events in the Pass.
“There are a lot of great communities in Canada,” said Mayor John Irwin to the approximately 120 gathered volunteers. “This is one of the best. This is the friendliest and most involved community I’ve ever been involved with. Thank you for everything you do for our community.”
Mayor Irwin also took the opportunity to once again present the Order of Crowsnest Pass, an award that recognizes lifetime contributions to the service and betterment of the community.

The award was created in the early 1980s, based on the idea that there are people in our community deserving of high recognition.
This year’s Order of Crowsnest Pass was presented to Joey Ambrosi, a longtime volunteer in many aspects of the community, particularly sports.
Ambrosi has coached nearly every sport that exists in the Pass over the years, and was instrumental in bringing organized lacrosse to the community. He currently acts as a coach, a referee, and and as president of the local lacrosse association.
In addition, he volunteered as the chairperson of this past summer’s 40th anniversary of the Southern Alberta Summer Games, which became the most successful in Crowsnest Pass history.
