2010 New Years Baby Sawyer Hvizdos

Senior Private Marc Olchowy, 23 years old and currently on duty with the Canadian Armed Forces in Afghanistan, is leading a busy life overseas. But between his many responsibilities, he has connected with students back in his hometown of Crowsnest Pass.
Olchowy transferred to Afghanistan in mid-October for a seven month tour of duty. He is a Light Armoured Vehicle (LAV) driver with the First Battalion Princess Patricia Canadian Light Infantry, and is also his section's medical first aid responder.
Recently the Grade Two students at Horace Allen School learned about Afghanistan and about Senior Private Olchowy. The students saw pictures of him, and each student wrote to him personally on a Crowsnest Pass postcard.
The cards were mailed to Afghanistan in November, and arrived just after Christmas, a special parcel from dozens of students back home, from the school Marc Olchowy formerly attended as a child.
"He's thrilled to get it," says Donna Olchowy, Marc's mother. "He really thinks they're great."
