Quote of the Week
“It’ll make more use of the busses. It’ll be more efficient. There’ll be more kids on the busses.”
- Dick Peterson
- on new school bus changes
in the Pass

Changes are once again coming to school bussing in the Crowsnest Pass, beginning at the start of the 2010-2011 school year in late August. While the busses will continue to not pick up anyone living within 2.4 km of their school, the school start and end times will become more uniform and a one-route bus system will be implemented.
Dick Peterson, chairman of the Livingstone Range School Division's board of trustees, says that the bus system in the Pass was causing unwanted start times at local schools. The high school's start time was set in stone because of the standardized high school schedules across the division. This meant that Isabelle Sellon School started earlier than was preferred, while Horace Allen School started later.

The new system will see all three schools starting at approximately the same time, 8:35 a.m. for the high school and 8:40 a.m. for the other two schools. Students in every grade will be picked up at the same bus stops and transported to school together. Each bus will stop at each school once the children have been picked up.
"It'll make more use of the busses," says Peterson. "It'll be more efficient. There'll be more kids on the busses."
