The Crowsnest Pass Food Bank Society
received a $100,000
donation from Teck Coal on Wednesday, July 6th, for construction of the new food bank building.
Nic Milligan, Teck’s Manager of Community and Governmental Affairs said the funds come from the company’s Community Investment Program, which donates to artistic, cultural, educational,
environmental, medical, social and community
initiatives in several
“The funds are from our Community Investment Program, the goal of which is to enhance the quality of life and the
sustainability of the
communities where we operate,” said Milligan.
“This community
investment recognizes the Crowsnest Pass Food Bank board and volunteers, and their important commitment to helping those in the community who… are at a vulnerable place and in need of a helping hand.”

“This is important work in any community, and we are glad to help in the Crowsnest Pass, one of the important communities that support our
operations,” he said.
The new food bank building will be located on 19th Avenue in
Blairmore, across from the forestry office.
The Municipality waived off-site levy fees for construction of the building earlier this year, and the food bank’s Board President Terry Grinevitch said this,
coupled with private and corporate donations will mean the society will be debt-free after the facility is finished.
The Crowsnest Pass Food Bank Society hopes to relocate to this new permanent location, from its current location next to CIBC on 20th Avenue in Blairmore, this fall.
