Fire broke out at the BCMI hotel in Blairmore on Saturday, November 5th, destroying the restaurant and lounge and causing extensive smoke damage to several of the hotel’s guest rooms.
The fire erupted at approximately 8 p.m., and the Blairmore Fire Department was soon on scene to battle the blaze, calling in the
Coleman fire crew for back up and Search and Rescue to perform crowd control.

Services and Crowsnest Pass RCMP were also on scene for assistance.
Fire crews worked vigilantly through the night to quell the flames, finally succeeding at around 6 a.m. on Sunday morning.
The hotel’s restaurant (Rusty’s Canadian Grille) the lounge (The Pass Sports Bar) and lobby were all destroyed in the fire, while hotel rooms were saved from the flames.
Provincial fire investigators were called in on Sunday to determine the cause.
