Frances Kathleen 'Kathy' Allsop
Dedicated, nurturing, self-sacrificing, and compassionate... these are some of the qualities that describe Kathy Allsop, who passed away suddenly in a motor vehicle accident near Sparwood, BC on Monday, November 21, 2011, at the age of 62 years.
Kathy was born on May 26, 1949, to Margaret and Phillip Ross in Medicine Hat, Alberta. She grew up in the comforts of a loving home with her parents and her three sisters: Anne, Pat, and Diane and her two
brothers, Doug and Keith. She was a bright, intelligent & caring woman who pursued a career in nursing.
She had a positive attitude and outlook on life and she soon attracted a young man named Darryl Allsop
into her life. They married on August 29, 1970, and were blessed with two loving children: Brenna and Jim.
Kathy enjoyed her job as a registered nurse at the Crowsnest Pass Health Care Centre, where she was a
well-respected supervisor and co-worker. Helping those in need was always her most important consideration when caring for the sick. She was most generous with her time, volunteering at many events in the community.
Being an adventurous women, who greatly valued her outdoor activities such as skiing, snowshoeing, golfing, and gardening, Kathy appreciated her healthy recreational lifestyle. She cherished the natural, beautiful surroundings of the Crowsnest Pass and
area and always treasured these outdoor interests with her loving husband Darryl, her children and grandchildren. Every family gathering was made very special by Kathy. She will be very missed but always loved by those who knew her.
Left to celebrate her life is her devoted husband Darryl of Burmis; her loving children: Brenna (Scott) Nicholson of Lethbridge, AB; Jim (Tanya)
Allsop of Frank, AB; her cherished grandchildren: Chloyee & Riley Allsop and Kael & Seth Nicholson; her brother Doug (Chris) Ross of Lethbridge;
her sisters: Anne (Michael Gifford) Symington of Rossland, BC; Pat (Jack) Stonehouse of Medicine Hat, AB; Diane (Stephen) Mann of Collie,
Australia; her sister-in-law Sandy Ross and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends, especially the “Thanksgiving Gang”.
She is predeceased by her father Phillip Ross; and her brother Keith Ross.
A Gathering will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2011, at the Blairmore Lions Pride Hall (12130 – 20 Avenue) from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. Expressions
of sympathy may be registered at fantinsfuneralchapel@shaw.ca.
