Chamber Notice

Girl About Town - Kimberley MasseyEvery week for the past 18 months, I have reported the news and events of this community, but the news I have for you this week is a little different - I’m leaving.
The news may come as a shock to some of you, and believe me, it was pretty shocking for myself and the rest of the Pass Herald as well.
Last week, I saw a posting for a reporter position with the Airdrie City View and Rocky View Weekly.
The idea of being able to move back to Calgary and be near my friends and family was way too good to let it pass me by, so I sent my resume, not really expecting anything to come of it.
Two hours later, I received an email from the papers’ publisher, asking when I would be available for an interview.
I was immediately reminded of when I had sent my application to the Pass Herald on Thanks-giving Day of 2010 and received a response from Lisa a mere half hour later.
The excitement of a positive response from Airdrie was swiftly deflated by the thought of leaving and letting down the amazing crew of the Pass Herald, who have become my family over the past year and a half.
I found myself extremely emotional as I tried to figure out what I should do.
Through speaking with my mother (who continually serves as my pro-bono therapist) and two of my closest friends, I was reassured that this would be a good change for me and that, if I got the job, the Pass Herald crew would be excited and happy for me (even if they wanted to kill me a little, at the same time).
Needless to say, the interview went well and my references panned out, and I was offered the job reporting for the two weekly publications based in Airdrie.
The days following have been even more emotional than that first night, as I can’t go more than five minutes without thinking of a person, place or thing about this community that I am going to miss.
This place has been good to me and for me, and I thank every single person I have encountered during my time here for making that so.
In two weeks, you can fully expect to read my final “Girl About Town” column, which will detail everything I will miss about this place.
As of April 30th, you will be seeing a new face around town, and I hope they will find this place to be as amazing as I have.
Love, Kimberley
