Quote of the Week
"Bear sightings are common for this time of year, because bears are waking up from hibernation. Eveyone needs to be bear aware."
- John Clarke

A motor vehicle collision that occurred at the intersection of Highway 3 and 129 Street in Blairmore took the life of an 86 year-old male, and injured six others.
At around 4 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon, Crowsnest RCMP responded to a fatal motor vehicle accident, after a northbound car exiting onto Highway 3 from 129 Avenue in Blairmore collided head on with a truck pulling a trailer travelling eastbound on Highway 3.
The male driving the car died on the scene. Of the six passengers travelling in the truck, five were taken to the local hospital with minor injuries, and the sixth was transported to the Pincher Creek hospital, before being transported to Lethbridge.

The passenger did not have life-threatening injuries.
Police temporally barricaded Highway 3 outside of Blairmore, and traffic was directed onto 20th Avenue in Blairmore. The highway was reopened several hours later.
Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash, but the matter is still under investigation.
Police encourage anyone with further information regarding the collusion to contact Cst Jarrett at the Crowsnest Pass RCMP at (403) 563-8072.
