Saturday, June 2nd was a monumental day for the ladies of the hockey team, Owen’s Coleman Eagles, formerly known at Pep’s Coleman Eagles, as they celebrated their 40th reunion and recalled cherished memories of days on ice.
Although they are no longer 14, and playing together on the ice, the former hockey team still laughed and shared stories like they were in junior high again.
“It was a chance for us to get together and remember the days we spent playing hockey,” Dianne Raffan, former hockey player for the team and organizer of the event, said.
Among the group was Debbie Duncan, the team captain and Doug Raffan, the team coach.

The hockey reunion doubled as a surprise birthday party to Doug Raffan, father of Dianne, as he was unaware of the party and the special guests until he walked through the doors of the Legion.
“We played hard and tried our best,” said Debbie Duncan, former team captain.
“One of my favourite memories was travelling, with the team. We had so much fun.”
Among the championships that Pep’s Coleman Eagles played, one of the ones that stood out to the team were the tournaments held in Banff, Lethbridge and Taber.
The team took a championship in 1973, a story that made the front page of the Pass Herald 38 years ago.
