On Tuesday, Aug 21st, Council members had a regular Governance and Priorities Committee meeting. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Decoux at 3 p.m. Here are some of the highlights:
Two representatives from ISL Engineering and Land Services, to discuss and explain a Highway 3 speed zone survey. A speed zone survey will be conducted in Crowsnest Pass and will essentially assess the existing highway signage, and provide recommendations regarding location and suitability of the signs. The survey is expected to reach completion sometime before Christmas of this year.
The Crowsnest Pass Ratepayers Association also made an appearance at the G.P.C. meeting. All but two Board Directors were in attendance.
After explaining the history and purpose of the Ratepayers Association, President Bill Kovach informed Council that the Association will be attending regular meetings, in hopes of increasing communication, and creating change in the community.
Overall, Council members appeared pleased by the Ratepayers attendance at the meeting. “It is communication that counts,” said Mayor Decoux.
The proposed upcoming schedule meetings were also discussed at the meeting. The next Governance and Priorities meeting will be on October 16th, at 3 p.m., and then again on November 20th, at 3 p.m. There will be not G.P.C. meetings in September.
