The Crowsnest Pass is being featured in an upcoming segment of the CBC series ‘Of All Places.’

The series is about the interesting people and stories of small town Canada. In collaboration with Frantic Films out of Toronto, the CBC is sending a film crew to the Pass.

“We're very excited about the shoot and coming to the Crowsnest Pass. It's one of my favourite places in Canada and I've been through there many times,” says Series Producer Catherine Legge.

Barbara Victor, field coordinator with Frantic Films, says they’ll be shooting in Coleman the week of April 7.

Rumour has it that the Herald’s very own Buddy Slapak will be starring in the show. Slapak will be giving host Jonny Harris, a Newfoundland comic, a tour of the community.

Slapak will reportedly be showing Harris Chris’ Restaurant in Coleman, the Frank Slide Interpretive Centre, the Hillcrest Mine Disaster Memorial and the West Canadian Collieriers’ Bellevue Mine Memorial Plaque.

The show will preserve a snapshot of the Crowsnest Pass including its quirks and the characters that make it unique. Harris will develop a comedy routine about his experiences and present them at a comedy show.

The free show will be at Polish Hall in Coleman on April 11, at 5:30 p.m. The community is invited to attend but beware; the event will be filmed for a CBC television series and attendees may be photographed and/or recorded. Seats are available on a first come first serve basis.

Harris has a solid Canadian comedy pedigree. He has been a regular at the Halifax Comedy Festival, the Winnipeg Comedy Festival and at Montreal’s Just for Laughs Festival. He has been heard on CBC Radio’s Madly Off in All Directions and The Debaters. You might recognize him in his role as Constable George Crabtree on CBC’s Murdoch Mysteries.
