For businesses both big and small, there is an amazing opportunity for getting public exposure at the Crowsnest Pass Lifestyle and Outdoor Adventure Show. For 26 years the show has been allowing customers to meet face to face with businesses and look at the products they offer.
Patrick Sager, President of the Crowsnest Pass Chamber of Commerce, says the show is the second biggest in the area.
“Friday night is always one of those nights where the turnout depends on whether people have something scheduled or not. We pushed about 600 through the door last night, so it was pretty good. We are expecting a lot more today (Saturday). Usually if it is bad weather we get more people coming in.”
The show is an excellent opportunity for home businesses to meet new people and get the public exposure they need.
Christine Smith, a RADA Cutlery seller who works out of her home, has been coming to the trade show for the past two years.
“It gets you out, and visiting with people out in public,” said Smith.
The second year with home based businesses in the upstairs section of the arena, Smith finds things “ a lot more organized, that’s for sure.”
The show brought businesses from all over southern Alberta to the Pass, from face painters to car dealerships.
Marina Irwin, is a Pampered Chef retailer, says the hardest thing about working out of her home is getting the word out.

“I have met so many customers and people just from coming to these shows. You get the opportunity to show them the products. The whole purpose behind Pampered Chef is ‘try before you buy’.”
The show has evolved over many years, last year being the first year they had a specific opportunity for home based businesses.
“Sometimes at bigger shows it is hard for home based businesses to get in, because they can be quite expensive. The Crowsnest Pass Chamber of Commerce giving this opportunity to home based businesses is just fantastic. It really shows. I don’t think many people know how many people really work out of their homes. It is so fun to see this vibrant part of the community get showcased here,” said Irwin.
The show is a great way to showcase all the different businesses in the Pass and surrounding areas.
“My favourite thing about [the Lifestyle show] is seeing all of the local people come out and support their local retailers and service providers. It is nice to see people come out. It is one of the first events in the spring that we get a chance to do. The show has progressed over the years,” said Sager.
