As part of the ongoing budget process, council has approved funding for a number of community groups that will be offering services and events in 2015.
“I think these are a lot of good groups who do a lot of hard work,” said Councillor Dean Ward. “It’d be nice to give them some certainty for 2015 and I know some of these groups need cash real fast.”
These groups either support operational services in the Pass or organize major community events that council has decided to support.
All groups had to submit their applications by Sept. 30 and on Dec. 2 council earmarked funding for the following groups.

• Crow Snow Riders - $8,000 for snowmobile trails.
• UROC - $5,000 for mountain bike trails.
• Allied Arts Association - $22,500 for the art gallery.
• CNP Library - $97,000 for library operations.
• CNP Museum - $18,000 for museum operations.

• Ecomuseum Trust - $18,000 for the Bellevue Underground Mine museum operations.
• Doors Open Festival - $1,000
• Coleman Community Association - $5,000 for events.
• Kananaskis Rodeo Association - $25,942
• Crowsnest Consolidated High School - $3,315 for graduation.
• Bellecrest Community Association - $5,000 for events.
• Chamber of Commerce - $3,200 for the lifestyle show.

Council also approved $20,000 for category three requests for the 2015 budgets. According to the new Community Funding and Support Policy, which was approved in March of this year, category three requests are for smaller community group requests and are considered on a case-by-case basis.
