Winter is a hard time for most of us but it can be especially hard for seniors and folks with disabilities.
“For those people the snow becomes a hindrance,” says Kim Lewis, Family and Community Support Services coordinator. “The wind blows it up against their doors and they become trapped in their own homes.”
The Family and Community Services Department is currently seeking individuals or businesses willing to either volunteer or sell their snow shoveling services to seniors and persons with disabilities.

Those who volunteer will be given the honorific title of ‘snow angel’ and will be entered into a draw to win a list of prizes.
“All that people have to do to be a snow angel is to help their neighbours. Taking that extra minute to clear their walk,” says Lewis.
The Blairmore Legion and the municipality are collaborating on the project.
If you would like to add your name and contact information to the Snow Angel List, which will be provided to those who need a hand with the snow, please call Kim Lewis at (403) 562-8833.
