The annual Darcy’s Nature Walk for Mental Wellness is scheduled for June 13.
The locally organized event is designed to increase awareness of mental health and wellness and to raise funds for local mental health initiatives.
Registration starts at 9:15 a.m. at Fireman’s Park in Bellevue. Participants will set out at 10 a.m., rain or shine, and complete either a five kilometre trail walk or a four kilometre paved walk. The walk is free but donations are welcome.
In addition to walking, participants will be treated to face painting, hot dogs, snacks and door prizes.
The walk is in remembrance of Darcy Rinaldi (Peknik) who was a beloved mother, wife, friend, and community member in the Pass.

She loved the outdoors, walking her dog and cross-country skiing but Rinaldi suffered from depression and took her own life in 2007.
“This walk is developed with her in mind, but equally important, it was created to raise awareness about the importance of maintaining positive mental health,” said an online release.
