Servus Credit Union welcomed its new branch manager Friday with an open house and a Boys and Girls Club barbecue.
“We thought that instead of us putting on our own barbecue, why not involve the Boys and Girls Club and give them an opportunity to raise some funds and get some awareness,” said branch manager Nathan Smigel.
Smigel, who hails from Lethbridge where he was assistance manager, said he’s happy to be in the community.
“It’s beautiful, you can’t beat the views and there’s a million things to do,” he said.

Each Servus branch in the province is putting on an initiative to celebrate rebranding efforts and a new Credit Union logo, which is a circle.
In the Pass, Credit Union employees decided to grow potatoes in a garden adjacent to their building.
Smigel wasn’t present for the planting but he was there for the harvest. The whole crop of 30 pounds was donated to the food bank.
Boys and Girls Club executive Scott Warris said Servus has been very supportive of the club. This year the Boys and Girls Club is operating out of Isabelle Sellon School. It remains the smallest of its kind in Canada.
