Last week, construction started on a new traffic signal on the west end of Blairmore at the intersection of Highway 3 and 20th Avenue, said the municipality in a statement.

The project is a joint effort between the municipality and Alberta Transportation. The work should be done by the end of January 2017.

There will be a reduced speed limit on Highway 3 and lane restrictions. The temporary traffic controls will only be in place during construction activities. The municipality is advising motorists to drive with care and attention through the work zone.

Due to pending winter weather conditions, the stop lines for the Highway 3 intersection approaches may be painted at the beginning of the project.
