On Thursday, Nov. 24 kids and families enjoyed a delicious lasagna meal with a side of literacy. The event was held at the Elks Hall in Blairmore as a way to encourage literacy development within families.

Families were invited for supper, which was then followed by them moving through six literacy-based centers afterwards. There were activities for all ages ranging from rhymes, crafts, Lego, sensory bins, “I Spy” games to board games.

The hope of the organizers is that each family took away some ideas to use at home and to understand that they can have fun as a family while engaging in literacy rich activities with their children.

The event was put on as a partnership between the Crowsnest Pass Literacy Foundation, Family and Community Support Services, Crowsnest Pass Parent Link Centre, Crowsnest Pass Community Library, The Early Childhood Development Coalition, Brighter Futures and Crowsnest Pass Adult Literacy.
