Council passed the 2021 Municipal Budget this week.

The 2021 Budget will have a $19.0M Operating Budget and an $11.8M 2021-2022 Capital Budget.

These numbers result in a projected tax increase of 1.73 per cent and a utility rate increase for July 2021 of two percent.

CAO Patrick Thomas says both these increases will be confirmed when the Tax Rate Bylaw and Fees, Rates and Charges Bylaw are passed in the spring.

The proposed tax increase means a residential property tax increase for a household valued at $300,000 to be $39.02 per year or $3.25 per month.

For a non-residential property valued at $500,000, the property tax rate would be $123.83 per year or $10.32 per month.

The utility rates will increase by $22.09 per year or $1.84 per month.

The net increase for the average homeowner is just over $5 per month.
