A Night of Music, Theatre, and Costumes to Support the Restoration of the Roxy Theatre

The Red Ravens Theatre Group, in collaboration with Crowsnest Cando, is preparing for a one-of-a-kind fundraiser to support the restoration of the historic Roxy Theatre. The event, titled Scene Stealers Fashion Show, will take place on Friday, June 27, 2025, at the Greenhill Hotel.

The evening will be far more than just a traditional fashion show, it will be a full theatrical experience, featuring performers strutting the runway in costumes from past productions while singing songs from previous shows.

“The anticipation of having a live performance on the stage of the Roxy Theatre with its incredible acoustics continues to grow,” said Pat Rypien, one of the organizers, “The work continues, the meetings continue, and the fundraising never stops.”

Rather than a conventional fashion show, Scene Stealers will bring a theatrical flair to the runway, celebrating the history of theatre in the Crowsnest Pass.

“The performance will definitely be a typical Red Ravens type of genre,” said Ali Sandilands, a member of Red Ravens, “We don’t do anything the typical or normal way, but it will be typical for Red Ravens for sure. We’re going to be incorporating songs from past shows we’ve done—some of the performers will be familiar, some may be new.”

Costumes from past productions will be featured on the runway, but with a fashion-forward twist.

“We want to make it a little bit more of a fashion show flair to it,” said Heather O’Bear, another organizer, “We’ll be adding embellishments to the costumes to make them a little [flashier], a little more fun, and bring that fashion element into it.”

For the Red Ravens Theatre Group, this event represents another step in showcasing theatrical talent in the community while also celebrating the journey that has led to this moment.

“It’s been an exciting journey, and this event will be a way to represent that history while having fun with the audience,” said Sandilands.

Audience members can expect a high-energy, interactive experience, with songs, costumes, and even some unexpected moments.

“Hopefully, people will sing along with us, maybe get up and dance with us,” Sandilands said, “Who knows? We may even go into the audience and come get you too; that’s very typical for us.”

While the Scene Stealers Fashion Show is a fundraiser, it’s also an opportunity to build excitement for the future of the Roxy Theatre, which remains a long-term goal for the community.

“We’re hoping this is the kind of show we can take into a real theatre once the Roxy is restored,” Rypien said, “The acoustics in the theatre are amazing, and this could be a great event to bring back once we have that space available.”

With limited seating available, only about 100 tickets due to space at the Greenhill Hotel, the Scene Stealers Fashion Show promises to be an exclusive and intimate night of entertainment.

“It’s not just a fashion show; it’s a performance,” Rypien said, “Bring your spouse, your boyfriend, your best friend; just come out, have a few drinks, enjoy some laughs, and support a great cause.”

With its mix of music, theatre, fashion, and community spirit, the Scene Stealers Fashion Show, taking place at the Greenhill Hotel on Friday, June 27, 2025, is shaping up to be a memorable night in the Crowsnest Pass.
